Carving Wooden Butter Knives from Walnut Wood

A block of walnut wood rests on my vice, its rich brown grain swirling like a river. I use a chisel to shape the blade, then sand it until it’s smooth enough to run my finger along. I carve a curved handle, perfect for gripping, and finish with beeswax to bring out the wood’s glow. Using it to spread butter on toast, it feels warm and natural—this craft isn’t just making a knife, but creating a tool that turns a simple breakfast into a connection with nature.
